What a year!  Well, technically ten months.

Faith in Theatres launched 22 February 2025 and found momentum incredibly fast. I started it as a review site, a place to put my thoughts, stretch my writing opportunities and most importantly – support Sydney theatre. It didn’t stay quiet for long.

Faith in Theatres carries my name because it began as a personal commitment. I wanted a title that reflected both who I am and what I believe theatre needs. Faith in the work, faith in the artists, and faith in the audiences who turn up.

As an independent reviewer and free-lance writer, I’ve moved between community and indie ‑driven spaces, red‑carpet events, and everything that connects them. I reviewed shows that surprised me, challenged me, delighted me, and made me rethink what theatre can be.

I have spoken with remarkable artists, attended more opening and media nights than my calendar thought possible, and found myself right in the centre of Sydney’s theatrical pulse. Along the way, my work has been quoted across multiple platforms, a reminder that these words travel further than I ever expected.

Only now, in reviewing my first year of reviewing, and stepping back from the whirlwind, did I realise the full scope of what I’d done. I had to tally twice to make sure the following numbers were real;

• Last month alone, Faith in Theatres website drew ten thousand clicks.
• On average, six thousand people engaged every month on Facebook and Instagram
• Seventy – (70!)  reviews
• Thirteen Faith’s Top 5 Interviews
• Five Faith’s Stage Scoops
• And somehow I found time to fit in three Faith’s Reflections, Editorials. 

While these stats are wonderful to see, they speak to something bigger than numbers alone. A year spent showing up for artists, companies, and audiences who deserved thoughtful words and top class promotion.

A huge shout out to the absolutely wonderful team at Kabuku Public Relations who saw this in my work. They approached me, asked me to review independently, and set off the chain reaction that became Faith in Theatres. It’s been a fabulous year of collaboration.

I also want to thank my amazing editor Maia Hadley, whose steady insight and skill keeps the final piece balanced, tight, and ready for my readers. Thank you to the wonderful friends who have always encouraged me, backed me at every turn, celebrated every milestone, showed up as my plus one and let me talk all the way home about the show. 

Finally, thank you to you – my readers who have clicked, liked, commented, shared and reached out this year. Your messages reminded me that my writing resonates somewhere real. Writers don’t always see where their work lands! 

I’ve always said, reviewing and writing is both a joy and a huge responsibility. It is a privilege to witness the work artists put into their craft and to respond with care, clarity, and curiosity. This year reminded me how much that matters. These are our stories and who we are.

Theatre deserves attention. It deserves reflection. It deserves people who arrive open to the joy of the show, eager to unpack its inner workings and its messages – and committed to writing about it honestly.

Faith in Theatres grew because I did, and I have adored writing every word. I’m only getting started. So see you in the foyer in 2026!

Because theatre needs Faith.
