Step aside divas — Skank Sinatra didn’t come to play, she came to slay with sass, sequins and stilettos. As one of the leading acts for Qtopia’s Pride Fest, it was immediately clear why. The Loading Dock Theatre could barely contain her — charisma, talent, and star power practically bursting at the seams. A glittering force of nature, combining powerhouse vocals, filthy humour, and a magnetic stage presence that had the audience swooning, squirming, and completely under her spell. 

Jens Radda is the South African-born, Melbourne-based triple threat behind the fierce and fabulous Skank Sinatra (could this stage name be any better?) With training from fancy schools in Perth, Paris, and Copenhagen, she serves up a sizzling, semi-autobiographical cabaret feast full of racy repartee, multi-lingual tunes, and spicy social critique. Equal parts Marilyn, mischief, and madcap hilarity, Skank Sinatra simply dazzles the crowd with glitter bomb brilliance.

Her voice? One note in, and she owns the spotlight as a vocal glamazon that knocks the notes into next week. Skank moves from sultry whisper to seismic belt in a single phrase. But there’s grit beneath the glamour. Her vocals carry the weight of a thousand lovers and a dozen hangovers. Warm, whiskey-soaked, and sometimes dripping in sarcasm, she croons, belts, growls, and soars — all without a wig hair out of place, darling.

Skank doesn’t just sing the story, she struts every note with flair and a knowing smile. Her clever lyric changes to Frank’s classics gave the set its wild, explosive heartbeat, infusing each timeless tune with irreverent joy, cheeky sass, and just the right amount of emotional bite. Frank Sinatra wasn’t the focus (and other artists were also featured) but he was definitely the launchpad. Skank turned his catalogue into her own dazzling, debauched playground, weaving in sharp wit and deliciously unexpected twists. The show was an intimate, full-throttle reinvention where familiar melodies collided with razor-sharp humour, keeping the audience dancing on their toes

Truth and tease collide in her life story, fuelling every beat and breath of the show. Skank Sinatra promised not to sing  “My Way” — and oh, the suspense! I won’t spill the tea here, but whatever she does serve will have you cheering and begging for more. The entire show just flew by — it felt like 15 minutes flat.

The improvisation and audience interaction was sharp, effortless, and electric. Yes, several patrons were picked on – and they loved it.  Make no mistake: Skank Sinatra was in complete control. During a quiet moment, when an audience member accidentally let out a piercing squeal pushing back his chair – she didn’t miss a beat. The fierce side-eye Skank shot him, slick with comedic venom, had the room roaring. It was a slick, unscripted moment that showed just how polished the show is—and how effortlessly she commands the stage.

Skank is part assassin, and part showgirl, twisting every unexpected moment into a perfectly placed punchline. You MUST catch this show. Jens Radda is a born star, poised to conquer the screen. I can already see her sparkling on Dancing with the Stars, launching her own reality show or killing the talk show circuit. Seeing her light up such an intimate venue  is like witnessing a comet streak across the sky—rare, dazzling, and utterly unforgettable. Trust me, you’ll be bragging about it for decades. DO NOT MISS IT.
